📚 McKinney Literary Fest Takes Over City Hall Saturday

The biggest book day of the McKinney calendar lands Saturday, May 30 at City Hall - the 2026 McKinney Literary Fest, a free come-and-go festival that runs 9AM-5PM and features more than 30 North Texas authors across fiction, romance, mystery, thrillers, speculative fiction, memoir, and poetry.

The day opens with keynote Kayla Olson (The Reunion, The Lodge) at 10AM and closes with investigative journalist Claire St. Amant (Killer Story, HBO Max's Killer Confessions) at 3PM. In between: panels on writing vulnerably and on publishing, genre-spanning author readings, meet-and-greets, signings, and Neighbor Books selling titles by the keynote speakers on-site.

It's organized by the McKinney Public Library System with the McKinney Public Library Foundation as part of the Summer Literary Series. Registration is helpful for headcount but not required, and parking is free. If you spend a chunk of your week with a book in your hand, this is your Saturday. 🐐 Goats Are Coming for Wilson Creek Trail

Starting June 1, the city is sending goats to graze about 30 acres of dense brush, exposed tree roots, and poison ivy along Wilson Creek Trail between Towne Lake Park and Al Ruschhaupt Park. Targeted grazing handles spots traditional mowers can't - and Parks & Rec is asking trail users to admire the goats from a distance and resist the urge to feed them. They'll be on the job for three to four weeks. (Source: City of McKinney, May 30, 2026)

📊 McKinney Budget Survey Is Open Through June 12

The city's annual budget survey is live and open through June 12. It's the main resident-input channel for next year's spending priorities - takes a few minutes and actually feeds the budget process. (Source: City of McKinney, May 25, 2026)
