This weekend in What's On McKinney: Finch Park hosts McKinney's Juneteenth Celebration Saturday night, complete with live bands, a splatter painting station, and a drone show finale. The World Cup takes over the weekend too, with watch parties at Mountain Mike's Friday and a packed Saturday night of live music across town. Juneteenth Celebration Returns to Finch Park - With a Drone Show

For the fifth year running, the City of McKinney is throwing its Juneteenth Celebration at Finch Park on Saturday, and this year's lineup is the biggest yet. Doors open at 5PM with line dancing and DJ sets, the David Whiteman Band plays two sets through the evening, and a formal opening ceremony at 7:45PM covers the history behind the holiday - freedom, reflection, and unity, as the city puts it.

The night closes with a choreographed drone show at 9:50PM, which is not something McKinney does often. Add in a full lineup of food trucks (7 Cities Seafood, So Forkin' Good BBQ, Whip and Treats among them), booth vendors, and appearances from the Dallas Wings, Texas Legends, and the McKinney Chupacabras, and this is shaping up to be the most-attended free event of the summer so far.

A few logistics worth knowing: there's no onsite or neighborhood parking, so plan on the Collin County Central Appraisal District lot (250 Eldorado Pkwy) or the McKinney Senior Recreation Center (1400 S. College St.), both served by ADA shuttle. Leashed dogs are welcome, but leave the cooler with alcohol at home and skip the canopy. (Source: City of McKinney - Juneteenth Celebration)

🏛️ McKinney's Oldest House Gets Historic Marker and Tax Break

The Historic Preservation Advisory Board approved a Historic Marker designation for the "Muse House" at 1306 N. Waddill Street, built around 1858-59 in the Early Classical Revival style with timber-frame construction and heartwood pine shipped in from Jefferson, Texas. It's considered one of the oldest houses in Collin County and already carries a 1978 state historic marker. The board also approved a Neighborhood Improvement Zone tax exemption for owner Emily Martin, covering $188,321 in qualifying repairs - new roof, foundation work, siding, windows, doors, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and paint - that brought the historic home back from disrepair. I'm 63 With $1.5M. Can I Spend $10K a Month?

You’ve saved $1.5 million. Now comes the real test.

Can it produce $10,000 a month, or will that pace drain your portfolio?

Most retirees do not get a clear answer until it is too late.

The issue is not just how much you have. It is whether your portfolio was built to pay you, not just grow.

That difference can determine whether your money lasts decades or starts breaking down early.

Sequence of returns, taxes on withdrawals, healthcare costs, and whether the 4% rule still applies all play a role.

Fiduciary advisors created a breakdown showing what drives sustainable income and why the same $1.5M can produce very different outcomes.

If you have $1M or more invested, do not guess.
