This weekend in What's On McKinney: McKinney just landed its biggest manufacturing announcement in years - a $919M campus from global tech giant LITEON, 600+ jobs, and its first North American facility. The FIFA World Cup Final is Sunday. With temps hitting 97°F by Sunday, I've also found the perfect splash pad park to start your morning before you melt. Get the full breakdown →
🏭 McKinney Lands a $919 Million Manufacturing Campus
LITEON Technology Corporation - one of the world's largest electronics and power supply manufacturers - just announced it will build its first North American facility in McKinney. The Taiwan-based company will construct a 650,000-square-foot manufacturing campus at the Core5 Logistics Center, with an investment of $919 million and more than 600 jobs on the way.
LITEON makes components used in everything from data centers to electric vehicles. This facility will serve the booming North Texas tech, logistics, and energy market - McKinney's position at the Highway 75 and Sam Rayburn Tollway intersection, combined with available industrial land at Core5, made it the winning site.
The announcement was confirmed by the City of McKinney on July 14, 2026. For context: LITEON has manufacturing plants across Asia, Europe, and Latin America - and this will be the company's first facility in North America.
For McKinney residents, this is the kind of deal that diversifies the tax base and signals the city is competing at a different tier for large-scale industrial investment - plus 600+ manufacturing jobs coming to north Texas. (Source: City of McKinney, July 14, 2026)

🏘️ Mixed-Use Housing Proposed Near Airport Drive
P&Z also considered a rezone at the northwest corner of Airport Drive and Greenville Road - from agricultural and single-family residential to Mixed Residential. If approved by City Council, it would open the door for higher-density housing near McKinney National Airport's western corridor.

🌳 Park of the Week: Prestwyck Park
When it's pushing 97°F on Sunday, the move is to get to Prestwyck Park before noon. This 10-acre gem has a splash pad, a zip line, outdoor fitness stations, and a Teqball table (it's like ping pong meets soccer and it's genuinely addictive). STEAM Learning stations are scattered throughout - one of the few parks where your kids might accidentally learn something.
The 0.6-mile trail loops the whole park, there's a full outdoor fitness area for the parents who insist on suffering, and a pavilion with BBQ grills makes it easy to set up a morning cookout before the heat gets serious. Parking is off 11811 Alexandria Dr - not the neighborhood pool lot next door.
Prestwyck Park - 1651 Prestwick Hollow Drive, McKinney, TX 75071 | 5:30AM-11PM | Free | parks.mckinneytexas.org
