π McKinney's Library Is Coming Back
After 16 months of construction and $20 million in work, the Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library reopens December 1 in downtown McKinney.
The library closed in June 2025 for a complete layout overhaul. The new version reorganizes the floor plan to improve access to materials and adds dedicated spaces for youth and teens - a meaningful upgrade for a library that's been serving McKinney since the late 1990s.
The headline addition: a 55-person planetarium. That's a genuine first for McKinney and one of the few in Collin County. The renovation also adds a 2,500-square-foot exhibit space designed to host traveling museum-style exhibitions, which opens up a new category of programming that didn't exist before.
The official opening is December 1. The grand opening celebration follows on December 5 from 10AM to 2PM at 101 E. Hunt St. - free and open to everyone. Mark the calendar now.

β€οΈ 12 McKinney ISD Schools Earn Heart Safe Designation

π³ Park of the Week: Waterford Park
Waterford Park is one of McKinney's quieter neighborhood parks - and for a fall weekend walk or picnic, that's exactly the point. The park features a playground, open green space, a small pond, and enough shade to make an afternoon outside worth the drive. It sits in the Waterford neighborhood on the west side of McKinney and tends to be far less crowded than the bigger destination parks.
With weather in the low 80s this weekend, it's a low-commitment option for anyone who wants to be outside without dealing with a crowd.
